Award winning Dawn MacWhannell is an inspirational woman indeed and probably the most deserving to be a FAB Woman, because that is exactly what she is. When others in her situation may have decided to take their foot off the gas, Dawn went 100 mph into a new business venture – Pretty in Pink.
Pretty in Pink is a specialist lingerie, swimwear, skincare and accessories retail outlet catering for women and men who have experienced breast cancer. Its motto is: ‘It’s what’s underneath that counts’.
Started in the Autumn of 2008, Dawn has already won a local competition for her outstanding entrepreneurship and business acumen.
Dawn’s story began when only 33 years of age she was diagnosed with breast cancer. After facing and dealing with the many challenges this brings, Dawn took the brave decision to open Pretty In Pink.
Pretty In Pink can be found in Church Street, Barrow-in-Furness and offers an extensive range of beautiful mastectomy and post surgery lingerie, as well as a range for the more generously and less proportioned customer and adolescent lingerie, feeding bras and sports bras.
As well as all of the above, Pretty In Pink also offers a free internet bar where customers can easily access all areas of information and support about breast cancer in a relaxed and informal atmosphere. Dawn can personally visit customers in their homes, where they may feel more relaxed and comfortable. And if all that’s not enough, Pretty In Pink stocks an extensive range of Gatineau skin products and offers make up advice and make over sessions at the beauty saloon to the rear of the premises.
Last, but by no means least, Pretty In Pink donates a percentage of their profits to Breast Cancer – now that’s something to be in the pink about!
